Introduction to Stranded Colorwork

Learn the foundations of stranded colorwork knitting in this three-part class.

Have you admired beautiful colorwork sweaters, hats, and mittens but weren’t sure where to begin? This class will give you the skills and confidence to get started.

Over three sessions, you’ll knit the Benon Headband by Hazel Tindall while learning the foundations of stranded colorwork knitting. Our instructor will guide you through each step in a relaxed, supportive environment where questions are always welcome.

The Benon Headband is an ideal first colorwork project, giving you plenty of practice with stranded knitting in a small, approachable project before tackling larger garments and accessories.

Between classes, you’ll have time to practice at home before building new techniques in the next session.

In this class you’ll learn:

How to hold two yarns comfortably

How to manage your tension and floats

An introduction to color theory for stranded knitting

Tips for choosing colors with good contrast

Solutions to common stranded colorwork challenges

Fee Includes: Three two-hour sessions and the Benon headband pattern by Hazel Tindall (free on Ravelry).

Please bring:

·       Four contrasting colors of fingering weight yarn (solid or tonal colors work best)

o   Kelbourne Woolens Camper is a great option available at Fiber Fever.

·       Needles and notions as called for by the pattern.
